ALEX FIELD FUND CHARITY NIGHT AT RUSSC - £1,020 RAISED
Alex, from Collier Row, is the eight year old grandson of one of our regulars at Hills 'n' Toes, "Rockin'" Pat Rodd. In July 2010, Alex was diagnosed with a malignant brain tumour, which is both aggressive and difficult to treat conventionally. Without costly treatment in the USA (where techniques are 10 years ahead of the UK) Alex's chances of survival are very poor. His family are driving the campaign to raise £300,000 to cover the costs of treatment in the States.
After having to postpone the previous week due to the weather, we finally went ahead with our charity night to raise funds for The Alex Field Fund. The evening was well supported, as about 70 people turned out to support our fund raising. We were overjoyed at the generosity of our lovely friends who supported the evening - including those who kindly donated cash and raffle prizes even though they were unable to attend. All raffle prizes were donated, as were generous auction items kindly provided by Tesco, Provident, Lakeside Shopping Centre and Candlelight. The evening was also attended by members of Alex's family and representatives from the Police & Ambulance Services.
Literally all proceeds from the evening (after accounting for hall hire) are going to The Fund. We were overjoyed to have raised £1,020 for this exceptionally worthwhile cause. Again, our thanks to all those who made it possible.
