Sunday 18 December 2005 — Hills 'n' Toes Christmas Party

We had our annual Christmas Party on the 18th. Over 100 dancers bought tickets for the event, and were treated to amongst other things, the first (and possibly last!) performance of the Hills 'n' Toes Band (affectionately called T*ts Up!), featuring Daz on vocals & Paul on guitar and vocals. They did two songs/dances: Take A Breather and Speak to the Sky.

A huge raffle had many prizes and winners (although 'somebody' managed to win 3 prizes!)

Special thanks to Terri & Joe from the RUSSC for laying on the generous buffet!

Thursday 24 November 2005 — Alan Haywood comes to Hills 'n' Toes

On 24 November at Hills 'n' Toes, we were very privileged to receive Alan & Fiona Haywood for a special workshop evening.

Having driven for hours to get to us in the rush hour, Alan taught us two of his wonderful dances with amazing dedication and enthusiasm.

Do You Mean It - When You Say You Love Me by Clay Aitkin:
This is a 64 count Intermediate dance to a moderate rhythm and music with a  hook.  Alan has written a sophisticated dance and was very popular with the dancers.  Alan taught this with precision as the last section has unusual timing which I liked! I can see this dance lasting.

In The Doghouse - Doghouse by Lonestar: 

A 48 count intermediate dance which is an easy teach to for dancers to learn. No restarts or tags. The dancers took to this too.    

We also danced one of Alan other dances,  Ain't No Man, which I taught some months ago. This too is a great dance for the modern dancer. Written to the Dina Carroll classic Ain't No Man. I just love this dance.

Sunday 16 October 2005 — Robert Craig & Friends: A Triumph For All Involved!

It was a great honour for Hills 'n' Toes to be invited to appear with Robert Craig at his special fundraising show in aid of The British Heart Foundation, at the Queens Theatre, Hornchurch. 

Many local artistes were involved, many of whom had never appeared on stage before. 

Hills 'n' Toes were the last big production number just before the finalé, and earned a standing ovation from a packed house (some 400+ people).
